They keep care accessible by accepting walk-ins but making an appointment is recommended for the best possible service. They connect Alabama residents with local resources and can mail naloxone to those who cannot access it locally. Although syringe exchange programs are not permitted in Alabama, NEXT Distro continues to bridge the gap by connecting individuals with essential local resources for support and care.

They do not operate treatment programs, but contract with community-based programs throughout the state. State-funded programs offer a sliding scale for fees, helping make care accessible to those with lower incomes.

Alabama Public Health provides links to naloxone (Narcan) training and dispensing locations. They also have resources for the safe disposal of medication and illicit drugs and overdose response checklists. Finally, the website provides information about the impact of substance misuse, including alcohol, benzodiazepines, cocaine, hallucinogens, inhalants, marijuana, methamphetamines and other stimulants, opioids, heroin, and fentanyl.
