About The Shoulder
The Shoulder is an inpatient facility in Spanish Fort, Alabama. It’s designed for men living with substance use disorder. The unique residential treatment program follows an innovative low-intensity approach, where clients reside in the sober living facility, but are expected to maintain full-time employment during the day. Therapy sessions take place in the evenings and are tailored to a client’s individual needs.
Therapeutic activities in the low-intensity residential program include individual and group counseling, community recovery groups, spiritual development, and life skills. The Shoulder has partnered with a local equine therapy group, which is known to have significant benefits on mental health.
When you complete the low-intensity program, they move to the transitional residential program. You’ll still live in The Shoulder for structure and support, but they’re encouraged to be more independent for gradual integration back into the community. Support doesn’t end with graduation. You’re welcome to return to a weekly support group to help maintain long-term recovery.
What’s great is that no one will be turned away from The Shoulder solely on their ability to pay. Fees for the program are calculated on a sliding scale based on a client’s income.
