Free and Low-Cost Addiction Treatment in Burbank, California

If you are looking for addiction treatment in Burbank, and your first question is how to pay for it, that question has better answers here than in most of the country. Los Angeles County funds a full range of care, from withdrawal management through outpatient counseling and medication for opioid use disorder, and much of it costs nothing for people who qualify.

While there is no county-funded treatment program with a Burbank address, this isn’t a barrier. It just means your first call is usually to a county intake line rather than to a clinic down the street. That is a routing detail, not a dead end. Programs in Glendale, North Hollywood, and Van Nuys are all within a few miles, and county intake exists to match you to one of them.

The resources below start with the county lines that can route you anywhere, then offer regional programs and meetings. If nothing here fits, neighboring Glendale and Los Angeles have their own listings and are both a short drive from Burbank.

Free Addiction Treatment Resources in Burbank

Free Treatment Score: 8.5 / 10. Burbank sits at the edge of one of the most expansive free and low-cost treatment networks in the country.

  • Treatment availability: Strong. Los Angeles County runs a large publicly funded and sliding-scale system, and Burbank sits close to its center.
  • Coverage and legal support: Strong. California expanded Medi-Cal, so most low-income working-age adults qualify, and naloxone and fentanyl test strips are legal and easy to obtain.
  • Local cost of care: Higher than average. Care in this part of Los Angeles County runs above the national average, though the free and sliding-scale paths below do not track local prices.
  • Harm reduction access: Active. Syringe services, free naloxone, and fentanyl test strips are distributed across the county, including the Valley.

An 8.5 in Burbank describes the network around the city more than the listings inside it. Burbank has no county-funded treatment program of its own, so a search that stops at the city line comes up thinner than the number suggests. Four miles east in Glendale there is a sliding-scale community health center. A similar distance west puts you into the San Fernando Valley’s cluster of county-contracted programs. The help is real and it is close, but it is not on your block, and knowing that in advance saves a discouraging first afternoon of searching.

The practical first move here is a phone call rather than a drive. County intake can screen you, tell you what Medi-Cal covers, and match you to a program that has an opening, which beats calling clinics one at a time. There is a walk-in route as well: The sliding-scale clinic just over the city line in Glendale takes same-day appointments and sees people without insurance. If the first match is not right, there are Medicaid rehab options in California and neighboring cities worth trying. Learn more about our Free Treatment Score methodology.
