About Department Of Community Progms

The Fond du Lac County Department of Community Programs provides a variety of services, including mental health and substance use treatment. The clinic in Fond du Lac in Wisconsin delivers outpatient evaluations, counseling, OWI classes and psychiatric medication management.

The clinic serves those who reside in Fond du Lac County and accepts Medicaid and other medical assistance coverage, along with a limited number of private insurance plans. They also provide care for those without insurance, using a sliding fee scale for those who qualify.

Outpatient Treatment for Substance Use Disorders

The County operates an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and also has general outpatient care. They give priority admission to their programs to pregnant women.

Services include assessments, individual and group therapy, family support meetings, medication assisted treatment (MAT) using Vivitrol. They also supply aftercare services that feature a weekly 90 minute aftercare meeting, connections to recovery support meetings, and links to various community resources.

Drug Court and OWI Classes in Fond du Lac County

One thing that really stood out to me is their Drug Court program. It started in 2014 and is a five stage intervention for adults on probation who were charged with non violent, drug or alcohol motivated offenses, not including OWI.

Drug Court provides at least 14 months of treatment and education. You can only participate once, but I like that those who didn’t make it through can reapply for admission under certain circumstances.

The OWI program is separate from Drug Court, and includes an assessment that determines your Drivers Safety Plan. Each person’s plan includes education and may also require treatment, which must be completed within 12 months of the assessment date. If you don’t complete it on time, you have to start over with another assessment and plan.
