About The Salvation Army Harbor Light
Based in Indianapolis, Indiana, The Salvation Army Harbor Light provides professional addiction treatment to adults aged 18 and older, regardless of gender, race, or background.
Their residential detox center provides participants with 24/7 medical intervention. Before they begin treatment, individuals undergo a complete nursing assessment. From here, they’ll be issued with a medication regimen to help them cope with any uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Detox typically lasts 5-10 days, but depends entirely on individual client needs and the severity of their addiction.
The residential treatment program provides a 28-day, 24-hour supervised, structured environment where participants can fully commit to their recovery. The program involves educational addiction classes with a focus on relapse prevention and life skills. This way, participants can come away with transferable skills that will help them adjust as they transition to their new life post-recovery.
The program also includes onsite drug tests and 12 Step meetings, case management, family education, HIV education and testing, and individual, group, and spiritual counseling. Recreational activities are also featured for a rounded, holistic approach to addiction treatment.
The facility’s transitional housing-ambassador program provides stable and affordable housing to adults in need of a temporary housing solution. Semi-private and dorm-style rooms are available at varying rates under a 5-phase program for you to work through their recovery goals, develop accountability, and access the tools they need to succeed.
Residents on this program receive three meals including snacks, clean linen, access to an on-site computer lab, and 12 Step meetings. By the end of this program, individuals will have secured work, a stable residency, and will be well on their way to integrating into their local community.
The natural progression from here may be for individuals to move onto the intensive outpatient program. This involves 8-16 weeks of cognitive-based group sessions, 3 times a week for 3 hours per day. Clients can choose from daytime or evening sessions depending on what works best for their schedule. From here, aftercare services are available as regular NA, AA or CA meetings. This way, individuals can maintain a connection to the facility for further support should they need it.
