About Turtle Creek Center
Talbert House is a network of services that empowers children, adults and families to succeed in life. They focus on prevention, assessment, treatment and reintegration. They operate several halfway houses in Southwest Ohio, including Turtle Creek Center in Lebanon.
These halfway houses provide a supportive residential space for both male and female offenders to successfully transition back to the community. I’m struck that Turtle Creek Center has 84 beds so they can help as many people as possible. This location is a men’s only halfway house.
Prepare to re enter the workforce and society
Here you’ll live in a community with other men who are ready to get the skills they need to re enter society.
I like how many support activities and services they offer. For example, clients get access to case management, substance use disorder and mental health treatment and criminality and behavior modification.
They offer child support and restitution help along with education and job readiness help. They also verify and monitor community jobs that are available to their residents. This means that once you leave Turtle Creek Center, you have a good chance of having a job history and work reference.
Help For Multiple Types of Offenders
Most halfway houses have exclusions on which type of clients they can’t accept. Usually this includes repeat violent offenders, arson, murder and sex offenders.
I’m impressed that Turtle Creek Center accepts sex offenders. They have a specialty sex offending curriculum to help men learn how to address this behavior, stay out of prison, reconnect with family, and learn how to communicate and solve problems.
I appreciate that the length of stay varies on how quickly each client progresses and there’s no set timeline. They offer medication assisted treatment and intensive substance use disorder treatment. You’ll also get access to primary care services, support with sober living and drug and alcohol testing.
