Bell to Bell School Based Services
One thing that really stood out to me was the fact that the school based services are so well integrated into the school day. They work in dozens of schools in the area and provide embedded mental health treatment services stretching from preschools to high schools.
Red Oak realizes that proper support can address risky behaviors such as underage drinking and substance use. They also support students in getting better academic results and maximizing graduation rates in the community.
If a student or family needs more intensive support, they can come to the Behavioral Health office on Market Street for additional care.
Caring Mentoring to Empower Youth in Northeast Ohio
The iC.A.R.E mentoring program really impressed me because it helps youth connect with older mentors who can set a strong example for them and help them manage their transition from adolescence to adulthood.
Mentors are volunteers who are trained and provided with curriculum and guidance, so there’s no “What should we do?” awkwardness. The goal of the program is to help young people develop prosocial behaviors and the skills necessary to make productive choices. It also helps redirect youth who are involved in risky activities and helps them see a future for themselves that’s healthy and focused on solid goals.
