About North Central Health Care Merrill Center

North Central Health Care operates multiple centers in Marathon, Langlade, and Lincoln counties in Wisconsin. The Merrill Center serves Lincoln County and is based in the town of Merrill. It provides outpatient treatment for mental health and addiction, OWI assessments and community treatment services.

Outpatient Counseling and OWI Services in Lincoln County

The Merrill Center has intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) and general treatment for substance use. The IOP meets two hours per day, three days a week for eight weeks.

Services include individual and group therapy using evidence-based approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) along with addiction education and information about the 12 Step process. I noticed that the center can also administer integrated treatment for those with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

The Merrill Center also provides OWI assessments for those convicted of driving under the influence. The evaluation will determine what education and/or treatment the court requires you to complete, and those results are put into a Driver Safety Plan. You’ll have a limited amount of time to complete the Safety Plan to get your license back.

Community Treatment Services for Adults and Youth

The Merrill location coordinates the Comprehensive Community Services program for those who need more support with mental health and substance use disorders. I like that services include evaluations, therapy and substance use treatment, medication management, psychoeducation, recovery support services and peer support.

The recovery support services can be especially helpful if you’re finishing a formal treatment plan and need guidance in implementing your new habits and mindsets in daily life. Resources like support groups, housing and employment services and more can make a significant difference in establishing long term recovery.
