About Maehnowesekiyah Wellness Center
Maehnowesekiyah Wellness Center is the outpatient arm of the Menominee Indian tribe of Wisconsin. The center is located in Gresham, a quiet village in Shawano County with a population of roughly 550. The area is known for its scenic beauty, attracting tourists for outdoor activities.
Drug Addiction Intervention Team
The Maehnowesekiyah Wellness Center offers primary care treatment for the tribal community and the reservation area. They’re also part of the tribes' drug addiction intervention team (DAIT) initiative that coordinates multi-tribal entities to address the community's needs. I like that the program provides a deeply culturally grounded approach to treating residents and has an emergency response structure to protect the community.
Before treatment is provided, assessment services determine your needs and develop an outpatient program. Your program can include individual and group therapy settings, as well as education classes and aftercare services once your structured program is completed. I saw that Maehnowesekiyah provides services to adolescents and adults with mental health and substance use conditions or co-occurring diagnoses.
In Person Trauma Informed Treatment
It's good to know that Maehnowesekiyah provides a specialized focus on trauma-informed care, helping individuals who are impacted by opioid addiction. Past clients have commented that the staff were nice and they were helped with their addiction. All services are offered in person without options for online or virtual care.
Additionally, the staff offers specific addiction and mental health related support services as an initiative of the DAIT. They provide certified recovery coaches. This approach has provided residents with support from individuals who understand how to navigate the system. The recovery coaches are available 24/7.
Maehnowesekiyah accepts Medicaid, Medicare and private health insurance plans. I’m glad that they also operate using tribal and federal funding, including the Indian Health Service.
