About Heartview Foundation – Cando

The Cando location of the Heartview Foundation is a residential facility with 16 beds in a secluded corner of Cando, North Dakota. The facility is located on the outskirts of the Cando community, near the Towner County Medical Center and the Condo Golf Club. You’ll be receiving treatment in a rural and serene location that allows you to solely focus on your recovery.

Insurance such as Medicaid and Medicare are accepted, and they’ll help you apply for it. If you don’t have insurance, they offer payment plans and a sliding fee scale. North Dakota substance use disorder vouchers are also accepted.

What I found to be an interesting fact, is how the Heartview Foundation came about opening their Cando location. In 2014 the Towner County Medical Center approached them to have their services and expertise expanded into the community. Through funding provided by the Dakota Medical Foundation, they were able to purchase their current center.

If residential services are appropriate for your needs, they will call you when they have a bed available. You may be made aware with a few days notice or just a few hours notice. If needed, their nursing and residential staff will stabilize you, before you are able to begin treatment. Since substance use depletes your body, you’ll receive the appropriate nutrition, fluids, monitoring, and medication. Residential care can last up to six weeks.

Among the treatments available, you may have equine assisted therapy as part of your treatment plan. They also have a therapy dog on site, for optional interactions. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) will also be available in the form of buprenorphine, naltrexone and antabuse.

If you would like to incorporate spirituality in your care, you have the option to visit with their chaplain. You’ll also be able to partake in creating art sessions and offsite supervised activities such as going to the gym, going to the movies or attending AA/NA meetings. They also provided a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP).
