About Elizabeth Layton Center

Elizabeth Layton Center Outpatient and Children Services in Paola, Kansas, specializes in treating adolescents, adults, veterans and families who are struggling with behavioral health and substance use disorders. Since 1958, they have provided treatment and supportive services for individuals to help elevate their quality of life with evidence based practice and personalized care.

They offer medication management that includes evaluations with their medical team to determine if medication is the most appropriate next step for your recovery process. They also monitor your progress and provide a follow-up appointment. Psychological evaluation services are also available to get you connected to the care you need. They also offer substance abuse evaluations for individuals who are in legal proceedings. Additional services include dual diagnosis education and recovery support groups.

What sticks out to me the most is the many services available for families and children. Not only does substance abuse deeply affect you but also your family. By offering these services they can help you and your family develop coping skills, maintain healthy boundaries, strengthen parenting skills and rebuild trust. Some of the services include parenting groups, parent/child interactive therapy, family counseling, court ordered parenting assessments and divorce classes.

A great feature I noticed was the variety of addiction treatment that is available such as recovery from smoking and/or gambling. Gambling is sometimes overlooked as a co-occurring issue for individuals struggling with chemical dependency, so it’s helpful that they offer this specialized treatment. Their goal is to provide integrative care to help you heal, overcome, and recover from issues that could impact your well-being.
