About Ascension SE Wisconsin – Capitol and Lilly

Ascension SE Wisconsin’s Capitol and Lily department is found in Brookfield, Wisconsin. They provide primary and specialty healthcare services to people of all ages. These include behavioral health and addiction treatment programs and co-occurring disorder care. It’s not far from Lilly Heights Park or Wisconsin Memorial Park.

Levels of care include inpatient treatment and a partial hospitalization program. They also offer medication assisted treatment. I like that their treatment focuses on both the physical and mental aspects of substance use disorder.

Part of Ascension's mission is to serve people who may not be able to afford medical care. That means you may qualify for financial assistance, and staff can help you apply for assistance programs if you lack insurance or your insurance doesn't cover services.

Something I think is really special about this facility is that they address problems adjacent to your diagnosis. Other conditions that may worsen symptoms of addiction or increase the risk of relapse will be targeted as part of their whole person approach. I like this because it can really open your eyes to how addiction influences and is influenced by your health in surprising ways.

I also want to highlight their case management services. Sometimes the problems addictions cause make us fall behind on other responsibilities. Other times, people exit treatment feeling overwhelmed by the prospect of reentering their "normal" life and carrying on with everything they need to do. Case managers minimize these problems by working alongside you to identify where you need extra support. They'll even help you get in touch with the services that can help you most. It's a nice parallel to the support you get in treatment.

Follow up care is another important factor of this program. I find medical care in any field is more effective when there's some form of post discharge check ins with staff. Follow up care is a great way for staff to gauge your progress and for you to voice any concerns you may have. Recovery doesn't end with treatment, so why should care?
