About Y Haven
Y-Haven is a recovery program administered by the YMCA of Greater Cleveland. You’ll find ‘em located out in Cleveland, Ohio. They provide comprehensive treatment for adults facing addiction and co-occurring disorders. Many of their clients have also experienced homelessness or incarceration. You can access a continuum of care for any stage in recovery.
Their programs offer specialized care that draws from treatment best practices. Depending on your unique situation, you can access 24/7 support in residential rehab or attend rehab while living at home. Individual and group counseling, optional medication assisted treatment (MAT), healthcare, family programs, and Veterans services.
One standout feature that caught my eye is their transitional housing. They provide room and board as you participate in their intensive or standard outpatient programs. You’ll share a fully furnished suite, kitchen, and bathroom with two to three peers in recovery. This feature adds another layer of support throughout your journey. You’ll benefit from a stable environment to heal while connecting with others on similar paths.
Another incredible feature that I noticed is they provide aftercare for six months. Even after you leave their transitional housing, the support and encouragement continue. This can help you stay grounded in recovery. You’ll have an empathetic team to lean on in challenging times and celebrate wins together.
I also think it’s fantastic that they help you find permanent housing and employment. Returning to daily life after treatment can come with many hurdles. Their team works with you to ensure you have a safe place to call home and a way to support yourself financially. That way, you can step back into society with a solid plan to move forward and sustain recovery.
An honorable mention is their Steps & Stages Play. Every year, they partner with the Cleveland Public Theatre to create a theatrical production featuring current residents and alumni. These plays educate the community about the challenges of addiction and homelessness. Not only is this a wonderful way to express yourself. It’s also a reminder of the realities of recovery and how far you’ve come.
