About Wheeler Clinic
Wheeler Clinic provides substance addiction and mental health treatment for adults. There are some special programs for teens and younger kids. You’ll find ‘em out in Plainville, Connecticut. Their intensive outpatient program (IOP) offers flexible schedules for those wanting to live at home and continue working or attending school.
When you sign up, you'll start out with a thorough assessment to help the team determine your unique needs. If you need higher-level care, they can refer you to an inpatient treatment center.
Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is available using FDA-approved medicines like naltrexone and buprenorphine. These medications help ease withdrawal symptoms and reduce drug cravings so guests can remain comfortable and safe. You'll have a lesser chance of relapsing and be more comfortable with your progress. And don't worry; all doses are supervised.
There are also multiple therapy options. Individual counseling helps you discover the root causes of your addiction issues. You'll develop healthier coping mechanisms, recognizing triggers, and learning relapse prevention methods for the future.
A group track makes sure that you don't heal alone. Your peers offer valuable feedback and a supportive network to reduce feelings of isolation. That way, you won't feel that you have to fall back on drugs to cope with frustrations and stress.
Family therapy sessions help mend relationships affected by addiction. They can also help loved ones understand more about the disease of addiction and assist with setting boundaries conducive to your recovery. Your family will be involved throughout and be there when you need 'em.
There are some special programs. If you're pregnant or had just recently given birth, there's a track just for you. They're also LGBTQIA-inclusive to provide resources so that your basic needs are met. They also have another site for primary care and a K-12 school.
Peer support is available with recovering members who can help guide you through the program. Case management is onsite to offer referrals to outside agencies and community resources when needed.
Their team is committed to helping you become healthy with whole-person care and lifelong sobriety. So check 'em out and see if they're a good fit for you.
