About WestCare Blossom House

WestCare Blossom House is located in a small neighborhood in Bullhead City, Arizona. This is a transitional living home for women with substance use disorder who are justice involved. It's a quaint eight bed residence with a homelike (rather than a clinical) setting.

Blossom House exists to help women prepare for independent living. They do so by teaching them life skills and helping them avoid reoffending and instead lead the lives they want. This is a self pay facility. They accept referrals from probation offices, Child Protection Services and courts.

You won't be isolated during your stay. Blossom House is located close to the local buses, granting easy access to everything the city has to offer.

Help Putting the Pieces Together

A requirement to participate in this program is committing to a 90-day stay. During this time you'll work with staff to lay the foundations for your life going forward. And it's much more than relapse prevention and life skills development. They help with education, employment and other needs.

I like this approach because it does so much to make sure you leave on the best foot. For some, these goals can feel out of reach, especially when you're living with addiction. The extra help can lift a tremendous burden off your shoulders.

An Introduction to Recovery Groups

You'll have regular house meetings with other residents during your stay. You'll also be required to attend daily AA/AN meetings as part of your recovery. AA/AN is one of the most common recovery groups in the United States that emphasizes the 12 Steps for recovery.

Besides getting you in touch with a recovery group, these meetings also add structure to your day. Developing a routine helps you maintain sobriety. But it's about much more than occupying your time. You'll be exposed to new skills and concepts to aid in your recovery.

Keeping Parents and Children Together

Another thing I appreciate about this program is that it allows young children to stay with you when space permits. This arrangement can reduce the stress and anxiety of separation for both of you. It's hard to argue against a program that keeps parents and children together.
