About Weems Community Mental Health

Weems Community Mental Health CenterLauderdale County in Meridian, Mississippi, offers treatment to adolescents, adults, seniors, veterans and families who are struggling with substance use disorders and mental health conditions. They were founded in 1970 and have expanded to provide offices in nine different counties. They were developed to provide high quality care to underserved and vulnerable populations.

At this location they offer a 10 week intensive outpatient program (IOP) that will provide you with a multitude of different services. The outpatient schedule allows you to work, fellowship with your recovery support network, and go home after treatment sessions.

What sticks out to me is their DUI program. This program was designed for individuals who have lost their driving privileges. This is a court mandated program that provides safety education and discusses the effects of substance abuse and harm that can occur when driving under the influence.

Their recovery support services assist you with developing skills to reduce the risks of relapse. Peer support plays a major role in these services. They offer a recovery support group once a week and they provide peer specialists. These specialists can identify with you and offer encouragement because they have had similar experiences with addiction but have established a fulfilling life in recovery.

Weems recognizes that it can be stressful to seek employment if your mental health has inhibited you from maintaining steady income. Their supported employment program assists with job development, job matching and ongoing support. They will follow up with you and your employer even after you begin working.
