About Washburn House
Washburn House provides addiction treatment that looks at your physical, psychological, and spiritual needs. They use medication alongside therapy to help you achieve life-long sobriety. They offer gender specific group therapy sessions and various other experiential therapies that are customized for your wellness.
Washnburn House accepts Medicaid and Medicaid managed care plans as well as payment options for self-pay clients. It’s located in Worcester, Massachusetts in a beautifully restored 19th century home. Clients can access medical detox, inpatient rehab, day treatment and intensive outpatient rehab.
Clients can begin their journey with medical detox to ensure that they are safe and comfortable as they rid their bodies of drugs or alcohol. The length of this process varies, but can take 3-10 days. After that, once you’re stabilized, you’ll move to inpatient care.
During inpatient care you'll spend a lot of time in group therapy. Being with your peers will help you learn from each other, find motivation and drive as you bond over your shared experiences. you'll spend at least 10 hours a week in group therapy sessions and another 15 hours a week in education groups. This will be on topics like anger management, relapse prevention and so on.
Their intensive outpatient treatment combines individual therapy with family and group therapy and may also include 12 Step groups. Your counselor may use a variety of therapies like cognitive (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) to help you address your addiction and chart a new path forward. The Washburn House has an excellent aftercare program for alumni called Rooted.
I like that their recovery programs are substance specific because addiction is so different depending on the drug. Clients can get hands-on healing through many experiential classes including yoga, cooking, writing, budgeting, and music. You can also get gender specific treatment to target exactly what men and women deal with in recovery.
