About University of North Dakota Counseling Center
If you attend the University of North Dakota then you can visit their Counseling Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota. They have typical counseling services as well as crisis support and substance use services. University of North Dakota students enrolled in the current semester can get in person or telehealth appointments here.
Substance Use Support For Students in Grand Forks
The Counseling Center offers multiple services for substance use and mental health support. They have assessments and education for students who have violated university policies on substance use.
One of their offerings is an online course called the Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students (BASICS) program. You can also find the Substance Use Prevention and Intervention (SUPI) course which allows students to reflect on how substance use is affecting their lives. It’s important to note that BASICS does not fulfill court requirements for alcohol education.
The Counseling Center also offers substance use evaluations and general outpatient treatment services. I like that there is a peer support group that allows you to talk to other people with the same experiences because college can be a challenging place to stay sober.
Flexible Care for UND Students Around the Country
One thing that really stood out to me is that not only does the Center offer telehealth services, they’re able to offer it to students who are out of state. This can be vital considering that university students may go home for holidays or even be taking classes remotely.
Telehealth appointments are available in 42 of the 50 states, making it accessible to almost the entire country. Some states have laws regarding counselor licensure that prevent the Center from offering telehealth there.
