About Turning Point Alternative Living Solutions
Turning Point Alternative Living Solutions (T-Pals) is an outpatient counseling center that provides drug, alcohol, gambling and family counseling. They have two locations in Pennsylvania, one of which is in Scranton. They offer substance abuse evaluations, interventions, counseling, gambling assessment and counseling, relapse prevention services, aftercare planning, and self-regulating techniques.
They work in helping clients develop a sound view of reality and work on their personal growth and development at the same time. They encourage clients to also follow a 12 Step program during their work at T-Pals, but albeit in an individual setting rather than depending on weekly meetings.
T-Pals unique method works to help participants identify the amount of time and energy they spend on unwanted thoughts and emotional attachments. They focus on identifying the thought and then the behavior that goes with it. They help folks ease the pain of unhealthy “stinking thinking” to lead to higher energy, productivity, and confidence. Topics include thought processing, calming the mind, inner peace, spirituality, emotional energy and love of self.
They use treatment modalities that have aspects of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, harm reduction, biofeedback, cognitive restructuring and self development strategies.
Clients may receive treatment through individual, group, family, or couples counseling. They also provide EAP/probation and parole interventions.
Their group outpatient treatment is an effective option for clients who want to stick to their daily routine. The outpatient program focuses on the psychological, spiritual, emotional and physiological needs of the participants.
They also provide continuing education to behavioral health professionals. They run onsite and online training courses.
