About Turning Point Alcohol & Drug Education Program Inc.

Turning Point Alcohol and Drug Education Program in Los Angeles, California has been part of the South Los Angeles recovery community since 2009. The program’s founder has real life experience with substance use, and after a successful recovery wanted to offer help to others fighting the same struggle. Clients aged 12 and older come here for outpatient addiction treatment and related services.

Standard treatment includes counseling and group therapy sessions, but they offer services that go beyond traditional addiction recovery. Clients experiencing mental health issues in addition to substance use disorders (SUD) are assessed for treatment and referred to a mental healthcare provider.

Turning Legal Trouble Into Recovery

I’m grateful for the help this program offers for people caught in the legal system. If you’ve been charged with a DUI, the court may require you to take a DUI education course.

The intervention program here can satisfy requirements for court mandated treatment. You’ll learn more about substance use and its effect on your life, plus you’ll be able to connect with others going through similar circumstances during group therapy sessions.

Help Transitioning Out of the Legal System

The Re-Entry Program here is for adult men and women who’ve been incarcerated and need help transitioning back into the community. To me, it’s an invaluable service because it helps people find their footing, something that’s not easy to do and that is often complicated by addiction.

The staff has lived experience, making it easier for clients to connect with mentors who understand their unique challenges. Many clients have expressed appreciation for the staff’s efficient handling of court documents and helping them understand their legal requirements.

Learning Balance in Addiction Recovery

Something a lot of people in recovery struggle with is managing anger and conflict. Anger management and domestic violence classes can help you develop healthier ways to cope. You’ll explore how substance use affects your relationships, but you’ll also gain practical tools that can make sobriety and holding onto relationships easier.

Turning Point Alcohol and Drug Education Program is less than a mile from some of South LA’s best restaurants, including Dulan’s On Crenshaw, where they serve classic Southern food. I can imagine enjoying a meal there or even a walk at nearby Leimart Plaza Park.
