About American Health Services
Established in 1983, Hollywood Medical and Mental Health Services is now called American Health Services. They provide outpatient treatment for substance use and co occurring mental health conditions in Los Angeles, California.
Certified by the State Substance Abuse Agency and SAMHSA and accredited by the Council on Accreditation, they accept Medicaid and Medicare as well as private insurance. A sliding fee scale is available for those who qualify with financial need. Services are offered in both English and Spanish, and walk ins are welcome.
MAT with Methadone and Suboxone
In addition to trauma focused counseling, they specialize in narcotics replacement therapy for those with opioid use disorders. Medical detoxification is provided, as is medication assisted treatment (MAT) using methadone and Suboxone to reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings.
I found that the facility also offers physical examinations, immunizations and family planning services. Comprehensive assessments are conducted to better tailor individualized treatment plans. HIV/AIDS and STD testing is available here too.
Dedicated Programs for Specific Patient Populations
With an emphasis on cognitive behavioral therapy, they offer specialized programs for specific patient groups. I like that this includes pregnant and postpartum women, and those facing the unique challenges of an HIV or AIDS diagnosis. Adults with serious mental illness are also treated as a part of their program.
