About Asian American Drug Abuse Program

The Asian American Drug Abuse Program (AADAP) provides residential and outpatient treatment for substance use disorder as well as a youth program and employment access services. This office on South Crenshaw is their administrative building, and the staff here can refer you to any of the programs in Los Angeles County.

AADAP is dedicated to serving people who are Asian or Pacific Islanders and other underserved communities in Los Angeles County. They provide services to all regardless of race or ethnicity. AADAP accepts Medicare, Medi Cal and private health insurance plans.

Residential Substance Use Treatment for Up to Six Months

The residential unit uses a therapeutic community model for their treatment program, which lasts three to six months. AADAP aims to create a learning environment where residents address their values, attitudes, decision making, lifestyle and self direction.

The program includes individual, group and family therapy, work therapy, addiction education, and classes on life skills, nutrition, wellness and anger management. They also provide aftercare, GED and vocational training and case management.

Outpatient Treatment for Youth and Adults

Outpatient treatment programs are available for adults and for youth ages five to 20. They treat both voluntary clients and court ordered clients.

The adult program features crisis support, individual and group counseling, addiction education, drug testing, case management and recovery support services. AADAP also administers specific court ordered classes, such as parenting, domestic violence and anger management.

The youth treatment program may involve drug education classes, mental health counseling, and/or drug treatment. Assessments, individual, group and family therapy, drug testing, psychiatric medication, case management and recovery support services are part of the youth approach. They offer services in the clinic, home or school, depending on what’s easiest for the family.
