About The Gilead House

Established in 1988, The Gilead House is located in Kokomo, Indiana. They are a nonprofit organization that was designed to assist women who are struggling with substance use disorders. This location is a sober residential setting that provides a 90-day intensive outpatient program (IOP).

Their IOP includes classes Monday through Friday. Their intensive outpatient courses are delivered by licensed therapists. Topics include Life Skills and Relapse Prevention. Their life skills class can help you with managing finances, prioritizing self care, nutrition and developing communication skills. Relapse prevention gives you the tools to handle triggers, identify a relapse and understand the harmful effects of active substance abuse.

Treatment can also include weekly psychosocial groups and individual counseling. Clinicians will utilize evidence based therapies to help you develop coping skills, manage stress, develop a recovery plan and achieve goals.

Throughout your 90-day stay you will be focusing on your recovery, healing, and developing structure prior to being discharged. Your stay also gives you an opportunity to connect with other ladies who are on a similar journey. You’ll benefit from mutual encouragement and accountability and have the opportunity to develop a recovery support network.

Previous residents of The Gilead House report that their stay transformed their lives. They praise the staff for their encouragement and believing in their ability to succeed. Some have noted that the women here became like a second family, offering them guidance and hope.
