About Meigs County TASC
Treatment Alternatives to Street Crime (TASC) started in the 1970s as a criminal justice initiative to address the growing number of substance-involved offenders cycling through the system. Today, TASC identifies individuals with substance use issues, conducts assessments, and links them with appropriate treatment options. They operate nine outpatient clinics in Southeast Ohio, including one in Meigs County in Middleport.
TASC assessments are included in pre-sentence investigation reports to help judges determine whether addiction treatment is needed and the appropriate level of care with community supervision. TASC is state certified to provide intensive outpatient (IOP) substance use treatment. The Meigs facility is north of Middleport Marina & Underground Railroad Trail and John Downing Jr. House with easy access via US Route 33 and State Route 7.
They conduct early interventions and accept self-referred individuals. They support minors, with a guardian required at intake. Services are available to anyone covered under Ohio’s Medicaid program. Grant funding may also be available if you live within TASC’s six-county service area. They even provide transportation assistance for those who face barriers getting to appointments.
