If you’re looking for a place to start over in the heart of the Sunshine State, The Oasis at HCA Florida West Tampa Hospital offered a clinical yet compassionate sanctuary. This facility is now permanently closed.

It wasn’t tucked away in the woods, but it was actually much more accessible because it was integrated right into a huge medical campus. That means clients had the safety net of a full hospital nearby while they were focusing on the heavy lifting of early recovery.

Disease Model Approach

The Oasis used a disease model approach which means the care teams here viewed addiction asa disease and not a character flaw. They had an inpatient detoxification program which provided 24/6 supervision for those who were going through withdrawal from benzos, opioids or alcohol.

Clients usualy spent about four or five days here in a private room, which I think helps to add a layer of dignity during those first rough days.
