Throughout the duration of your stay, individual counseling will be part of your weekly schedule. While working with a counselor they will utilize cognitive (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), which will help you learn to manage your emotions, develop coping skills, and improve your problem solving skills. These therapies can help alter unhealthy and harmful ways that could’ve influenced danger and impulsive behavior. By regaining control over your own thoughts, increasing self awareness, and boosting self confidence this can improve your overall well being and motivate you to continue your journey of healing.
Group support will be you, your peers, and a counselor discussing a variety of different topics and learning how to create a healthier lifestyle. The areas that will be discussed will focus on your financial, emotional, mental, spiritual, and environmental wellness. By discussing these domains this can encourage you to pick up hobbies, form a support network with others in recovery, or encourage you to make necessary changes to old environments you’re familiar with but don’t honor this new way of life.
A case manager will follow-up with you throughout the time you are in treatment. Prior to being discharged, they will help assist you in developing an aftercare plan and provide referrals for outpatient and sober housing. This can alleviate the stress of having to figure it out by yourself and receiving guidance from someone who has more resources and awareness of what will be the healthiest and safest choices for you.
