About Stonybrook Center
Stonybrook Center in Wheaton, Illinois offers healing to adults dealing with opioid use and alcoholism. They specialize in medication assisted treatment (MAT). This proven method uses FDA approved meds and counseling to facilitate “whole person” healing.
Prior to receiving MAT you’ll be screened and assessed by their clinical team. This is to ensure that you’re medically safe to receive MAT. They’ll then create a personalized treatment plan based on your assessed needs.
Your personalized plan will include the best meds to help you handle withdrawal. This will either be methadone, Suboxone or vivitrol. This eases withdrawal symptoms and curbs cravings. You’ll then participate in counseling sessions to tackle the underlying emotional issues influencing your opioid use or alcoholism.
Their MAT program has many great attractions. They don’t prescribe Benzo while you’re on methadone since that can be risky. Their physicians can even help you taper off prolonged Benzo use. I really like how the program is structured but still value your input.
They promote the safe use of meds and community protection. This is achieved through their callback and pill count approach. They’ll immediately give you a box of Narcan at no cost if you’re a new client.
Narcan is an overdose prevention spray. They distribute it to community members as part of their harm reduction efforts. The facility offers medication to help you quit smoking.
You’ll get a lot out of their peer-facilitated Medication Assisted Recovery Anonymous (MARA) meetings and SMART Recovery meetings as well. Their MAT program also includes testing for HIV, hepatitis C, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and tuberculosis.
These are commonly transmitted through the sharing of needles, syringes and other drug paraphernalia.
They provide in-office treatment for these conditions as well except for HIV. They’ll refer you to appropriate community providers when needed. These may happen when you have severe substance use issues requiring high intensity treatment. They even offer referrals for severe wound care.
They address other substance use issues through their outpatient and intensive outpatient programs. These programs focus on teaching you coping strategies and life skills that promote a sober lifestyle.
The intensive outpatient care is especially helpful if you’re still using substances while on methadone. It’s a great choice if you’re hoping to establish lasting recovery from other drugs as well.
It currently involves three hours of sessions daily held for three days a week. Proven treatment methods like cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy are used to create a treatment plan that fits your needs.
They offer DUI education and treatment as well.
Their full spectrum of services encompasses medical care, job placement and legal assistance. They also offer transportation aid and more. Stonybrook accepts most private PPO plans and Medicaid MCO plans but not Medicare.
