About Riverton Place

How The Men’s Program Works

I noticed that the majority of men who are in this residential program have already been to a homeless shelter. They provide both group and one-on-one counseling that is designed to help men look at their lives differently in order to prevent addiction.

They emphasize relapse prevention through classes that educate men about the effects of drugs and alcohol on their bodies and the consequences of drinking.

They believe that the acceptance of the Christian religion is essential to recovery. Men will participate in church and Bible study as well.

GED Program

One thing I like most about this place is that they give men the opportunity to earn their GED. So many people become homeless because of a lack of education. Men have chores at the mission that will teach them responsibility and get them into a routine.
