About Rimrock Trails Treatment Services

Rimrock Trails Prineville Youth Residential Program is located in Prineville, Oregon. They offer inpatient care to adolescents and teenagers between the ages of 12 and 17 years of age. They offer equine therapy, wall climbing, rope courses, holistic therapy, case management, individual counseling, case management and group therapy.

They utilize experiential therapy that includes wall climbing, low rope course and equine therapy. The benefits to rock climbing and low rope courses include the release of serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. This can help you manage stress and anxiety and improve brain function.

Equine therapy helps your child learn to rebuild trust again by working with horses and developing a relationship to rebuild trust and work toward emotional healing. This therapy will include walking with the horse, feeding, cleaning hooves and keeping up with grooming.

The holistic therapies they utilize are cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and collaborative problem solving therapy. This helps alter your child’s way of thinking from old negative thinking and behaviors that could impact your well being. Dialectical behavior therapy helps with managing emotions, learning how to regulate stress, and incorporating coping skills. Collaborative problem solving helps with difficult behaviors and encourages children to solve problems as a team. This can motivate youth to change their mindset by being open minded and less controlling of solving issues.

In residential treatment, your child will work with a licensed therapist. The therapist can help provide clarity and support and hold your child accountable. An individualized treatment plan will be developed to gain a better perspective on what will be expected and what treatment work will be done. Weekly progress reports will be discussed with you, your child, peer support staff, medical staff and the school system to ensure your child is getting the healing they need.
