About Regis University
Regis University is a Jesuit Catholic University by Rocky Mountain Lake Park in Denver, Colorado. They offer counseling for enrolled students and their families in multiple formats.
Denver, also known as the "Mile High City," is the capital of the state, sitting at the base of the Rocky Mountains. Students at the University enjoy a mix of outdoor adventures with over 300 days of sunshine. The area is famous for its premier music venue and easy access to skiing and hiking.
Student Counseling Services and Training Clinic
Regis University doesn’t offer a structured substance use disorder treatment program for its students. They do provide academic coursework and clinical training related to substance use disorders and addiction counseling. These courses teach students about treatment approaches and counseling strategies.
The counseling services and training clinic also offer various mental health counseling services to address the challenges that students face on campus. I noticed that an initial intake is done during your first phone contact, which helps establish if you have had previous contact with the services, are mandated or voluntarily participating and what your clinician's preferences are.
Referral for Substance Use Disorder Treatment
The intake appointment includes paperwork to gather relevant background and an intake session to decide on the best course of action. There are tracks for individuals, groups, couples, and families. All professional sessions are kept strictly confidential records.
When substance abuse treatment is required, the student counselors will refer off campus and work closely with students to provide the resources and support they need on campus to maintain their education.
I'm impressed that there's no cost for these services for students of Regis University.
Levels of Care
Residential or inpatient rehab in Colorado is the most intensive treatment setting, offering medication management, individual and family therapy, and verious forms of evidence-based or holistic therapy. Clients live at the facility while receiving treatment.
