Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center offers behavioral health services to Veterans in the Charleston, South Carolina area. This location provides outpatient mental health and behavioral health services to treat a wide variety of concerns. Those whose primary diagnosis is substance use disorder may need a referral to an alcohol and drug rehab facility. Clients who have dual diagnosis may receive treatment. Individuals whose addictions can be managed through outpatient care may also receive treatment.

Trauma-informed care, evidence-based treatment approaches, and clinical treatments are provided. Common areas of focus include PTSD and trauma, health and disability challenges, psychosis and mental health challenges, and chemical or process addictions. Medication management is also provided. Those with dual diagnosis receive mental health treatment and addiction treatment concurrently. Clients who are at risk of harming themselves or someone else may need to be admitted to inpatient care for stabilization purposes. Treatment is generally covered through VA insurance.
