About Portland Recovery Community Center
Portland Recovery Community Center is an organization for individuals and families battling addiction in Portland, Maine. You’ll benefit from education, resources, advocacy and support to aid in your recovery journey. With multiple free support groups and activities, you’ll have a welcoming environment to connect with others and heal.
Low intensity peer support can be a great option for aftercare or to start your recovery journey. Their recovery community provides holistic and expert backed approaches. You can participate in over 50 meetings and groups, including Alcoholics Anonymous in English and Spanish, SMART Recovery, art groups, gardeners in recovery, tai chi and yoga. They also offer in person and telephone recovery coaching.
What stands out most to me is their recovery coaching program. A recovery coach can be a vital asset in your journey. With lived experience in recovery, they are there to offer guidance and support and reduce treatment barriers. Your recovery coach can also connect you to local resources and support to meet you where you are in your journey.
Another incredible feature is their World Recovery Café. This is a safe space to share delicious meals and recovery experiences with your peers. Each week covers a different topic so you can increase your knowledge and learn from the journeys of others. You’ll have access to a solid recovery network to bond over food, culture and recovery challenges and milestones.
