About Porter Starke Services

Porter Starke Services is a nonprofit community center located in Portage, Indiana. They provide services to children, adolescents, adults, and their families who are struggling with addiction and mental health conditions. Levels of care offered here include intensive and traditional outpatient treatment along a recovery center and a women’s recovery home. Both Medicare and Medicaid insurance are accepted, and they offer sliding scale fees based on income criteria.

Their recovery center was developed to assist individuals struggling with opiates. This treatment program helps you transition from chemical dependence to maintenance medication. It also includes counseling. The medication helps with cravings as well as withdrawals, and you will be under medical supervision from medical staff. During treatment you will begin working with clinicians who will create an individualized treatment plan to help you achieve the healing you need.

You will be able to work with a therapist one on one and become introduced to holistic therapies you can use in day to day life. Cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy go hand in hand, helping you identify the issue with thinking or behaviors but also learning to change and come to a deeper sense of self acceptance. These therapies also help with reducing stress and anxiety and building self confidence.

The women’s recovery home provides a safe, secure, and cozy environment that helps hold you accountable and can encourage you to stay active in your recovery. During your stay, you’ll focus on building a day to day routine, developing life skills, and building social skills with other women who are on the same journey as you. Being in their recovery home gives you an opportunity to focus on building the life you want and working toward it while you are in a supportive space.
