About Co-occurring Residential Program – Pioneer Human Services
Pioneer Human Services’ King County Residential Treatment Program is a 16-bed co-ed facility that supports Medicaid-eligible adults in Seattle, Washington with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. The facility offers a structured and supportive environment where individuals who’ve been involved in the criminal justice system can develop the skills needed to reintegrate into their communities with dignity and purpose.
The facility is located in the same area as the Northwest Black Pioneers just four miles south of Jefferson Park and Beacon Hill First Baptist Church. They boast an interdisciplinary team of professionals, most with a lived experience in recovery.
These experts are available 24/7 to support your recovery while onsite, ease your transition to the next level of care and prepare you for reentry into the community. Your length of stay will depend on your unique situation and typically ranges from 28 to 59 days. Referrals are mainly accepted through the King County Care Coordination Office.
Restoring Stability for Justice-Involved Individuals
At its core, I found that this program aims to help justice-involved individuals achieve lasting stability upon reentry into the community to minimize the chances of reoffending. This is achieved through a personalized and balanced approach blending proven treatments with whole-person care and supportive connections to ensure long-term success.
Following intake assessment and personalized care planning, you’ll attend therapy sessions to develop coping skills, relapse prevention mechanisms and work on your self-esteem.
Therapeutic curriculum addresses basic living skills and anger management alongside nutrition and recreational activities to improve your overall wellbeing. If you’re facing opioid use issues, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) will be included in your care plan. This means you’ll receive FDA-approved medication to ease withdrawal symptoms, curb cravings and reduce relapse risk as you continue to receive therapy.
Medication Management and Peer Support
An expert psychiatrist will provide assessment and medication management as part of integrated care to address your co-occurring mental health issues.
I like that you’ll also benefit from the support, guidance and encouragement of peer specialists who understand your journey and bring valuable lived experience to your recovery. You’ll be connected with ongoing support, housing resources, and employment assistance to help you build a stable and fulfilling life as you transition back into the community.
