About Palmetto Center
The Palmetto Center is an addiction treatment facility working under the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department. You’ll find ‘em in a quiet corner of semi-rural Florence. Providing specialized addiction treatment services to individuals of all ages and their families, this center seeks to expand on its parent agency’s mission to encourage positive change.
The center recognizes that substance misuse and addiction are life-changing a destructive conditions. This is why their caring professionals offer a voluntary residential treatment program that lasts four weeks to help guide individuals through the physical and emotional elements of addiction recovery. In this way, they can feel supported as they address their substance use head on and move towards a healthier lifestyle.
Throughout this program, addiction counselors provide guidance and support. From intake through to eventual employment, they’re there to help individuals transition back to independent living as smoothly as possible. Through addiction counseling sessions, they help residents recognize negative behavioral patterns and the factors that contribute to them, while reinforcing a more positive attitude and the skills needed to make better choices going forward.
Meanwhile, nurses are on hand to provide medical care and monitoring for residents, including the administration of essential medications. Day-to-day, residents are fuelled by nutritious meals, and guided through recovery within a structured environment. Their daily routines will involve regular treatment sessions, as well as games and activities to help them learn and relax, while enjoying a fun community atmosphere.
Naturally, the program comes with its own in-built support system, in which residents are encouraged to respect themselves and others, while taking responsibility for their behavior. Group therapy offers opportunities to share and benefit from peer support, insights, and accountability while building healthy relationships with others.
Regular guest speakers also share their stories throughout the program to provide motivation and inspiration. Family members and loved ones can also get involved where to support through visitation and family therapy sessions.
Employment support is also provided to help residents get back on their feet post-recovery. This is done through sessions covering stress management, self-esteem, and conflict resolution. Specialists help participants recognize and sell their strengths, skills, and interests in the hope of successfully landing work.
