About Oxford House Riverside

Oxford House Riverside in Stevens Point, Wisconsin is a sober living home for women. This is one of many Oxford House facilities throughout the country. Oxford Houses are democratically run, self supporting sober environments for residents in recovery from substance use addictions. These homes are all gender specific and this particular one is a women’s home.

Self Run Home with Elected Officers

Officers for the home are elected by the residents and are in that position for six months. Every resident has an equal vote and officers must follow the rules of the term. The self run structure of the homes resembles a college fraternity or sorority.

Supporting Co Occurring Disorders in a Sober Home

People who have co-occurring mental health disorders with their addiction are supported and welcomed at Oxford House. Having the accountability of others in similar situations can help you to stay on track with your medications and your symptoms.

Clients who are accepted at the Oxford House have typically completed a 28 day substance use program or have completed a five to 10 day detoxification program. While residents are not required to leave after a specified period of time, most stay one year while others may stay up to five years.
