About Oxford House Linden Square
Oxford House Linden Square is a sober living home in Fremont, Nebraska. They provide a stable, gender-specific living environment for adult men or women battling addiction and co-occurring disorders. Their unique approach focuses on building responsibility and accountability as you live among peers in recovery.
With Oxford Houses you live in a self-supporting and democratically run sober space. That means you’re responsible for paying rent, maintaining employment and sustaining recovery. They don't provide a house manager or an authority figure. You make every decision regarding your well-being and the course of your sobriety. They encourage you to actively participate in peer support groups like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
What stands out most to me is the admissions process. Many who enter their program step from a residential program or have completed detox. But you don’t need to have a specific amount of sober time. When applying to stay at their residence you'll interview with the other residents and wait for their approval. They use a democratic process to decide whether you can live there. Once accepted you can live there as long as you need.
Another interesting feature I noticed was their emphasis on self-sufficiency. As a member of their home you'll share an equal cost for rent and facilities while supporting yourself. They push you to embrace your inner strength and understand the responsibility that comes with daily life after recovery.
Lastly, I think the peer support aspect is great. Although they don’t hold peer support groups, they motivate you to become an active member of AA or NA. These groups can help you build a spiritual connection with a higher power to aid in your recovery. Furthermore you’ll connect with others pursuing the goal of long term sobriety.
