About Our Home
Our Home - Psychiatric Residential Treatment Center is a private mental health and substance use treatment facility for teenage girls ages 12 through 17. They are located in Parkston, South Dakota. This residential program is designed to help through a combination of individual and group treatment, with an emphasis on the importance of peer support. They accept insurance plans, including Medicaid.
This program is divided into four separate stages structured to gradually teach coping skills and reintroduce your child to healthy community living. The central focus is developing a sense of personal responsibility and applying that to relationships.
The highly structured, four phase program teaches participants the value of community involvement and personal character development while they live together in the shared residence. Each resident is given a set of responsibilities and privileges that change as they progress through the course. Residents work on developing personal accountability while balancing everyday chores (like completing homework) with sober living. Finally, your child will cultivate a stronger sense of self awareness and reflection on their choices that they can use to guide them in the future. You may find this approach a good fit if your child has exhibited severe symptoms.
Other residential programs use a similarly structured approach, but what makes this one unique is that it doesn't adhere to a timetable. Your child stays in each stage as long as they need to, only progressing when they demonstrate a full understanding of each stage's requirements. That means they won't feel rushed, and if there's something they're having difficulty with they can spend more time on it. Self paced options like this can take some of the pressure off those in treatment.
