About Operation 6:12
Operation 6:12 is a free Christian focused mental health and substance use treatment and recovery program. They believe that life’s challenges like depression, anxiety and addiction are part of a deeper struggle and are best faced with faith in God’s strength. They operate a women’s residential recovery 10 minutes from Sugarcreek, Ohio in Ohio’s Amish country. This relatively isolated facility is surrounded by farmlands. This forms a serene and therapeutic backdrop where you can face your challenges squarely without outside distractions.
They aim to help you reconnect with God through fellowship with a sisterhood of like minded women. The facility houses a maximum of 10 women who live together as a family. You’ll share the domestic duties of cooking, cleaning and maintaining the yard with others while working on your healing. These chores promote personal responsibility and independent living, which is the hallmark of an effective recovery program. Women from the community regularly teach cooking, natural remedies and crafts projects that benefit the residents.
You’ll participate in daily Bible studies that help deepen your understanding and build a faith based foundation for healing and personal growth. You’ll also receive personalized Biblical counseling in the form of temperament coaching using the Arno Profile System. This grants you deeper insight into your core needs, challenges and strengths. A major component of this program is the “life alignment” program. This combines counseling and Biblical principles to help you align your lives with God’s design. It includes regular sessions where you’ll learn practical ways to recognize and work through challenges like substance use. This is delivered in both individual and group sessions to help you gain a healthier mindset.
The program also includes vocational skills development through work initiatives. You’re expected to actively participate in the work program to develop strong work ethics and commitment to personal independence and discipline. This also allows for constructive mental and physical activity that transforms your mind, body and spirit.
Their prayer night presents an opportunity to meet God on an experiential level and pray for one another in recovery. This promotes emotional, spiritual and physical healing.
The program isn’t all about work and faith based activities, though. You’ll also have time for recreational, fun and outdoor activities. This may include a meal or coffee outing, movie time in the cinema or visiting the theater. You can even go swimming in one of the local ponds. This ensures that your overall recovery experience is exciting.
Upon graduation, you’ll be given a check to facilitate community reentry. They’ll also provide ongoing support and follow-up as long as you choose.
