About O Brien House
O’Brien House in Baton Rouge, Los Angeles helps individuals and families impacted by substance use and addiction. They offer residential and outpatient treatment programs for adults living with substance use disorder as well as specialized prevention and adult education programs. They also have a track tailored to the unique challenges of veterans.
The residential program is open to both men and women and provides a structured environment free of life’s usual stressors and temptations. Treatment plans are tailored to each person’s needs and will include individual and group counseling, an introduction to 12-step principles and programs and a life skills program that provides career counseling, job readiness training and job placement assistance. Following completion of the residential program clients can move into one of O’Brien House’s outpatient programs.
Outpatient treatment at O’Brien House usually starts with an evaluation to determine the appropriate level of care. The intensive outpatient program provides more structure and support than the general outpatient program but still allows clients to maintain their work and family commitments. Outpatient services include group counseling sessions, life skills sessions and regular random drug tests.
I really appreciate the specialized veteran’s services that are provided free of charge to those in need. These services include confidential support groups, case management services to provide information and referrals when needed and special workshops to help veterans explore creative ways to express their emotions.
