About Northshore Youth and Family Services

Northshore Youth and Family Services was in the business sector of Bothell, Washington.This was a nonprofit agency that helped individuals and families impacted by addiction use, mental health, and other behavioral health challenges. They offered care in an outpatient setting so youth and families could find the care they needed.

There were also dedicated programs for youth. These services included programs for children involved in the juvenile justice system. There were also services offered through partnerships with the local Northshore School District and the Skykomish School District.

Unfortunately, after 50 years of operations, Northshore closed its doors in 2023 largely because of a decline in operational funding.

Their substance use counseling services were comprehensive and targeted not only addiction but co-occurring mental health conditions. From their substance use counseling, you would have learned tangible skills to lead a sober lifestyle.

If needed, you may have been referred to different community agencies like sober support groups. This provided you with a network of support to turn to when you needed it most. The YMCA is pretty close as were sports centers for exercise and R&R.

Family Focused Care

Their dedicated family support services really stood out to me. For example, they had a Healthy Start program for young parents. Among the services provided through this program was access to formula, car seats, diapers, and other baby essentials.

Young parents were also empowered with education on how to best support their child's development and how to implement positive parenting habits.
