About New Connections

New Connections Irma's House in Tacoma, Washington provides transitional housing for women recently released from correctional facilities. The program offers personalized support to help residents secure basic needs and assisted them with reintegration into the community by providing services such as counseling and job training.

Comprehensive Support for Formerly Incarcerated Women

This program caters specifically to formerly incarcerated women recently released from correctional facilities who were experiencing homelessness. I’m impressed by the parenting classes this facility provides, aimed at supporting mothers in rebuilding healthy family relationships, offering guidance and support as they worked to reunite with their children.

They accept Department of Corrections Housing Vouchers for women coming directly out of incarceration who qualify for the Resilient Reentry Program, and sliding scale fees are available. Residents pay no rent but regular savings is required for those with income.

Safe Housing for Women and Children

The Irma Gary House is a six bedroom house located in Tacoma's Hilltop neighborhood. The Ann Flagg Cottage is a smaller, two bedroom home offering shelter for women with custody of minor children who encountered obstacles to housing due to their criminal backgrounds.

Prime Tacoma Location

The convenient location of this facility stands out to me. It is situated in close proximity to Wright Park, which offers walking trails and a conservatory. The Tacoma Art Museum is also nearby, providing opportunities for cultural enrichment to residents, while the University of Washington Tacoma Campus offers clients educational resources and access to community events.
