About New Beginnings Recovery

The facility is located outside of town providing a quiet and serene environment where you can focus on your treatment and recovery. I appreciate this inviting setting because it means you won’t have any distractions from the outside world.
SMART Recovery in Van Wert
During your time in treatment you will attend individual and group counseling as well as specialized programs that fit your specific needs. As part of your intake you’ll undergo an assessment. The assessment will help their staff determine your specific needs and diagnosis to better develop your individualized treatment plan. Your treatment plan will also include specialized programming.
This specialized programming can include their SMART recovery program. SMART uses scientific approaches such as cognitive, behavioral and motivational techniques. If this program is right for you, you’ll focus on the four point program. The four points of focus will be controlling your urges, seeking a balanced lifestyle while focusing on short term and long term satisfaction, sustaining and increasing motivation to abstain from drug use and effectively managing your feelings, thoughts and behaviors by using problem solving techniques.
Music and Physical Fitness Therapy
In addition to counseling, you may see that music and/or physical fitness is added to your treatment plan. These forms of therapy help reduce stress levels and calm your mind.
Music therapy allows you to focus on relaxing and reflect on your goals. It will help you gather your thoughts, concerns and wishes by putting them into words or creating a beat. This opportunity really stood out to me because it gives you a chance to express yourself, which can help improve your communication skills.
With physical fitness, you’ll become aware of your body and learn to take care of it. Physical fitness will also help you become aware of the nutrition you are putting into your body. As a result, you’ll start to eat better and provide your body with the proper nutrition that may have been lost during addiction. Physical activities help improve cognition, reduce diseases that can make you feel ill and help clear your mind so that you can focus on your recovery.
