The Nebraska Urban Indian Health Coalition (NUIHC) is located in Omaha, Nebraska and provides residential and outpatient mental health and addiction treatment to American Indians and Alaska Natives. They also offer primary medical care services to the Native community and the general public.

Residential Treatment in Omaha
The Intertribal Treatment Center has culturally relevant residential treatment for substance use and/or mental health concerns. It’s a small facility, with only 10 beds, and treats both men and women.
They provide evidence based care in individual and group therapy. They also incorporate native traditions, which may include sweat lodges, healing circles and Wellbriety.
To be admitted you’ll need a recent chemical dependency evaluation, physical, TB test and STI test. You can get these evaluations and tests from the primary care team at the N Street clinic.
Outpatient Services and Transitional Living After Treatment
Once you graduate from the residential program, you can access additional support through NUIHC’s transitional living homes and outpatient counseling services.
Outpatient treatment includes individual therapy, which is also available through telehealth. They offer peer support as well, which can be vital when offering culturally focused care. Having other members of the Native community support and encourage you and share their stories can help you establish long term sobriety.
NUIHC also provides case management, which connects you to community resources and peer support groups so that you can live a stable and productive life while enjoying your freedom from substance use.
