About Mt Zion House for Men
Mt Zion House for Men is a ministry run by Mt Zion Christian Church. They are a drug and alcohol treatment facility in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The Men’s home is located directly behind the church on Hwy 120.
The facility is located on 15 acres of land and can house up to 24 men. It has a large kitchen, dorm bedrooms, common areas, a chapel and teaching and counseling areas. Residents have access to the gym at the church on the property. What stands out to me is that the property also features a babbling stream which is a wonderful place for meditation and contemplation.
Residential Men’s Recovery in Lake Geneva
Mt Zion House for Men is a Christ-centered program that requires men to commit for at least 26 weeks of treatment. It’s set up to have three phases. They charge a $700 admission fee that is non-refundable.
The first-phase is four weeks and is an intensive month of classes, group discussions, counseling, church attendance and recreation. During this time you won’t be allowed phone calls with loved ones but you can write letters.
Phase 2 lasts eight weeks and during this time men are expected to find a full-time job. The job must be for first-shift. You’ll begin to pay $175/week for housing and food. You’ll also be in charge of your own personal expenses. During days off, you’ll follow the same schedule as residents in phase 1. At this time you’ll be able to have visitors and make and receive phone calls.
The final phase is 14 weeks, and men must meet certain standards during phase 2 to be progressed to phase 3. Residents gain additional privileges in this phase if they continue to follow the rules of the program. However, there are no overnight or weekend passes.
Mt Zion House Rules
For folks who require a schedule with strict rules, I think Mt Zion could be a good fit. They don’t allow smoking, antidepressants or substances of any kind. Since residents are expected to focus their attention on their recovery, dating is not permitted.
Classes, church and group sessions are mandatory and so is being on time. Mt Zion permits only Christian literature, and there is no music or television allowed except what staff approve.
