About Mirror Residential Program
Mirror Residential Program is a nonprofit organization in Topeka, Kansas, that offers behavioral healthcare, re-entry services and prevention programs. They also treat people with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
Their residential program for substance use gives you the chance to become stable under 24-hour care. The aim of this program is to give you the tools you need to manage your life without using substances. I like that they also help you plan how to prepare for triggering situations to prevent relapse.
This intensive program gives you a structured and sober environment that promotes recovery. Your days may include a blend of individual and group therapy, recreational activities, time for rest, mindfulness and reflection, physical exercise and peer support.
They also have a residential program for inmates who are transitioning from prison back to society. This re-entry program teaches federal inmates how to become productive members of society.
Mirror also provides a residential program for teen boys who are16 and 17 years old. They can house 12 youth who are struggling with substance use disorders. Their full scope curriculum supports both the youth and their family to help the youth recover and live a substance-free life.
They also offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) to all residential patients. This program is led by their medical director and can give you prescription medication to aid recovery. Methadone, naloxone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone are common FDA approved medicines that can be used for opioid and alcohol abuse treatment. These medications paired with clinical treatment have been proven to be effective in helping people achieve long-term sobriety.
I like that they also offer peer mentors. These peer mentors are members of staff who have training and also lived experience of addiction and recovery. They help you remove barriers to your recovery and connect you to resources in the community. They also support you as you develop sober skills and a sober lifestyle.
