About MDC Behavioral Health and Recovery
The Metropolitan Development Council (MDC) is an integrated social service agency that has served low-income residents of Tacoma in Washington since 1964. They offer compassionate support and resources that foster stability and personal growth free from poverty or diseases. MDC offers support for stable housing issues, food and nutrition and energy or power. They also provide educational support for adolescents and adults. These services are geared toward creating a more economically equitable community.
Their behavioral health services ensure an enhanced quality of life for community residents. They offer withdrawal management and outpatient care to support people with substance use issues and co-occurring disorders.
Comprehensive Support for Recovery and Wellness
Withdrawal is the necessary first step for most people in recovery. Detoxification takes place within a therapeutic and structured space at Suite 100 within the facility. MDC strives to provide a safe and conducive experience for patients undergoing withdrawal.
You’ll undergo a thorough medical assessment during intake to evaluate your withdrawal symptoms, health status and care needs. You’ll be monitored 24 hours by onsite nurses and technicians during the withdrawal procedure. These experts will administer medication and offer substance use counseling to ensure your safety, comfort and medical stability during withdrawal. You’re also provided with balanced meals throughout your stay to support your recovery, replenish nutrients and promote overall wellbeing.
Step-Down Services for Long-Term Sobriety
Once you’re stable, they’ll guide you towards the next recovery phase. This may involve a step down program to their intensive outpatient or general outpatient care if you’re dealing with cooccurring conditions.
These programs involve recovery focused group and individual counseling using proven techniques to help you build practical skills for managing life challenges. The program also involves medication management, illness education and relapse prevention strategies to foster lasting abstinence. They’ll link you to community services that support lasting stability via case management as you move forward in your healing journey. These range from housing and financial aid to employment and educational support.
