About Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota
Based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Lutheran Social Services is an accredited nonprofit. They specialize in social services, as well as mental and behavioral healthcare for individuals of all ages and their families. It’s right off the 229 near Tuthill Park.
They accept South Dakota Medicaid, Medicare, and other private insurance options. Sliding scale fees are also available.
Individuals struggling with substance use disorder (SUD) and addiction can access specialized addiction counseling here to help them get down to the root cause of their addiction, and unpack the emotions behind their behaviors. As with the center’s other counseling services, these sessions can take place either in-person or virtually. Clients can also access treatment needs assessments to scope out their treatment options and see what might work best for their unique situation.
Clients can access a range of support services here, including individual, group, and couples therapy. Educational groups are also available, as well as mental health assessments. Telehealth services like virtual counseling are also available to those who can’t make regular in-person appointments, and are available state-wide for individuals who need them.
As part of their SUD services specifically, the center also offers Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Substance Abuse (CBISA) groups, alongside individual counseling for those who may have found themselves in legal trouble as a result of drug misuse. Depending on clients’ locations, these can also be done either in-person or through telehealth.
These services are offered in the hopes that clients may be able to better examine potential solutions to their problems, and in turn, develop coping strategies throughout their counseling sessions. They feature additional social services, like the CARES Wraparound program, to help you do just that.
