About Horizon House

Horizon House is a community outreach program that provides comprehensive outpatient behavioral health services along with specialized care for people with intellectual disabilities that’s located in Norristown, Pennsylvania.

This facility serves the greater Philadelphia community through its partnership with Healthy Minds Philly, providing care for both adults and adolescents. Additionally, this organization offers homeless services to help people get back on their feet.

An Emphasis on Mental Health

One of the things I noticed with Horizon House is that the priority is treating mental health. While there is support for dual diagnosis, the emphasis is mainly on targeting the actual mental health condition to help you stabilize and learn to effectively manage your health.

This can include outpatient or residential care depending on the severity of your condition during your assessment.

Residential SUD Treatment

If you’re actively struggling with a substance use disorder (SUD), you may find that residential treatment is a more effective solution for achieving sobriety. Horizon House offers a six to 12 month rehabilitation program that’s provided in a non-hospital residential setting.

During this time, you’ll participate in therapy which will help you identify triggers as well as learn healthier coping mechanisms to avoid relapse.

After completing residential treatment, you may choose to utilize the transition services. However, this is currently only available for adult men. Still, it includes reinforcing therapy sessions to maintain the skills learned during the initial residential program, as well as help to get back on your feet.

Outpatient and Peer Support

If your addiction isn’t severe or you’ve successfully completed the residential programs, Horizon House offers peer support services and outpatient programs to help you maintain your sobriety. Peer support is ideal as it helps you build a new social network that understands your struggles and keeps you accountable for your actions.

Outpatient care is offered for adults and teens and includes group or individual therapy. Speak with a patient care advocate for insurance and financial aid details.

ACT is typically provided by a multidisciplinary team of medical and mental health care providers, social workers, therapists, and other specialists, including addiction recovery professionals. These services are frequently provided in the home and community to clients in crisis, those who are clinically unstable, and those who are unable or unwilling to travel to a hospital or clinic for in-person treatment.

Levels of Care

Outpatient Rehab

While undergoing outpatient treatment in Pennsylvania, you’ll work through challenges such as cravings, social skills, and relapse prevention as you meet with a recovery expert and attend 12-step meetings. This treatment may last a few weeks or several months, depending on your recovery needs.

Dual Diagnosis & Mental Health

Mental illness and substance abuse are so integrated that they must be treated together. Ignoring one and treating the other doesn’t work. Dual diagnosis treatment in Pennsylvania effectively addresses both mental health and substance abuse disorders, for the best outcomes.

Sober Living

An average stay at a Pennsylvania sober living home is designed to decrease your chances of relapsing. While there, you’ll work on strengthening your recovery skills and prepare to live on your own.
