About Helping Up Mission
Helping Up Mission is located in Baltimore, Maryland, and offers a spiritually guided path to recovery for men and women struggling with homelessness, mental health issues, substance abuse and addiction. Helping Up Mission is an ideal choice for individuals for whom faith plays a pivotal role in life. Offering its addiction treatment services for free, this is a great option for those without the means to pay for private care, facing financial troubles, or without insurance.
They provide holistic care that attends to both the practical needs —shelter, food, clothing— of its clients, as well as supporting clinical, mental health, medical, education and vocational needs. It does this by offering respective men’s and women’s long term recovery programs which feature nourishing meals, a room of one’s own, clean clothes and toiletries, as well as a supportive community, spiritual guidance, mental health and substance abuse services, and case management.
The women’s program also enables children of 0-3 years to stay with their mothers, with childcare necessities also covered. For this reason, single parents and mothers shouldn’t feel deterred from the path to recovery.
Helping Up Mission’s flagship Spiritual Recovery Program provides a structured journey to recovery that takes individuals through four unique phases. Each step is designed to nurture and offer and achievable trajectory for clients in addiction recovery. The program combines long term residential programs based on 12 Step models and holistic care and spiritual support including Bible studies and chapel, art therapy, counseling, support groups, and more as part of a personalized recovery plan.
Individuals also have access to life skills education to prepare them for reentry into daily life. Clients receive work therapy assignments accounting for nearly 40 hours of their week, giving them responsibility and autonomy over key elements of their routine, and helping them develop work ethic, job skills, self respect, and more for a sustainable recovery.
